OverviewState and Lake Chicago Tavern is located in the heart of downtown Chicago’s Loop and Theater District at the iconic intersection of State and Lake Streets. The restaurant attracts a diverse mix of locals, tourists, business professionals, and theatergoers year‑round. The fast‑paced, high‑traffic environment provides team members with experience in upscale hospitality, elevated American tavern dining, live entertainment service, and high‑volume guest engagement.
Responsibilities- Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
- Request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar.
- Follow set‑up procedures.
- Prepare garnishes, mixes, and pre‑mixed drinks.
- Greet guests.
- Mix, prepare, and serve drinks to guests; coordinate with food servers.
- Report complaints to a manager promptly.
- Maintain and clean the bar area and equipment.
- Clean and lock up the bar area according to procedures.
- Attend staff meetings, including pre‑shift (line‑up) sessions as required.
- Practice beverage and revenue control procedures.
- Provide attentive and exceptional service to each customer and develop a client base.
- Complete other appropriate work assignments as requested by the manager.
- 2‑3 years of related experience and/or training.
- TIPS and Serv Safe Certified.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear and taste or smell. Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Be flexible since this is a 24/7 hotel operation.
- Regular and reliable attendance (1 to 3 years).
Fast‑paced hospitality environment; requires extended periods of standing and walking; may involve occasional lifting of items up to 25 lbs; indoor work environment with frequent movement throughout the restaurant.
Compensation$12.62 per hour.
