Summary

The Data Specialist, HR Systems is responsible for ensuring data integrity, quality, and governance across all HR systems. The Data Specialist, HR Systems is an exempt role that reports into the Manager, HR Systems. This role leads data integrity efforts, develops advanced analytics and reporting, manages compliance reporting, and establishes data quality standards. The Data Specialist, HR Systems serves as the organization's point of contact in HR data management and workforce analytics.

Responsibilities
  • Execute data management and auditing initiatives for employee records, organizational structures, and job data
  • Conduct regular data quality audits and implement automated validation rules, demographics, job data, and organizational assignments
  • Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures
  • Manage data conversion and migration activities for system implementations and acquisitions
  • Create data mapping documentation between legacy systems and Workday
  • Perform parallel payroll validation during dual-system periods
  • Develop advanced analytics, dashboards, and visualizations for workforce insights
  • Create and maintain executive dashboards for HR metrics and KPIs
  • Build complex Workday reports using Report Writer, including Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports
  • Manage compliance reporting requirements (EEO-1, VETS-4212, ACA, OSHA)
  • Support audit activities by providing accurate data extraction and validation
  • Develop calculated fields and custom validation rules in Workday
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to identify data-driven insights and trends
  • Maintain data dictionary and documentation of HR system data structures
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in HRIS data management and analytics
  • Advanced proficiency in Workday Report Writer and reporting tools
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with database queries and data manipulation
  • Expert-level Excel skills including Power Query, Power Pivot, and advanced formulas
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration
  • Strong understanding of HR data structures and relationships
  • Attention to detail with commitment to data accuracy and quality
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles
  • Experience with acquisition data integration and cleansing
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics and workforce planning models
