The HR Operations Manager, US & Canada is a hands‑on leader responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely HR Operations and end‑to‑end payroll services across the United States and Canada. This role manages a team of two (HR Operations Analyst and Sr. Payroll Analyst) while performing complex, high‑risk HR & payroll transactions, audits and escalations.

The Manager partners closely with HR Partners, HRIS, Finance, and other Centers of Excellence to ensure consistent processes, strong internal controls, and an exceptional employee experience. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in U.S. including multi‑state taxation, compliance, controls, and reconciliation and thrives in a fast‑paced HR Operations environment where accuracy, service quality, and operational excellence are essential.

About The Job
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of two direct reports:
    Sr. Payroll Analyst and HR Operations Analyst.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day service delivery including US & Canada payroll processing, time & attendance, onboarding/offboarding and lifecycle transactions.
  • Prioritize and allocate workload, ensuring timely completion and adherence to service‑level agreements.
  • Build strong partnerships with HR Partners, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Finance, HRIS and other internal stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and high‑quality service.
  • Own end‑to‑end governance of US & Canada payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing across federal, state/provincial, and local regulations.
  • Perform and review complex payroll tasks, manage escalations, and ensure proper handling of exceptions.
  • Ensure full compliance with payroll requirements including tax regulations, wage & hour rules, garnishments, and statutory reporting.
  • Oversee payroll controls, audits, and reconciliations and documentation ensure processes align with SOX and internal audit expectations.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll funding, reporting, GL reconciliation, and month‑end close.
  • Oversee lifecycle management and coordinator activities, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely execution.
  • Execute complex Workday transactions and partner with HRIS on UAT, testing, and issue resolution for hires, job changes, and terminations.
  • Manage escalations related to I‑9 verification, offer letters, background checks, and onboarding workflows.
  • Oversee onboarding communications, benefits notifications, and orientation support aligned with global and regional standards.
  • Validate operational reports (timekeeping, pay slips, benefit eligibility), ensuring strong data integrity and alignment with HRIS outputs.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, automation, and consistency across HR Ops and payroll.
  • Own HR Ops data quality and operational controls, Maintain SOPs and knowledge articles.
  • Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and compliance metrics that leverage insights to implement corrective actions and drive performance.
  • Support global HR Operations initiatives and cross‑regional harmonization.
About You
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Experience:

    7+ years of progressive US Payroll experience combined with HR Operations; strong foundation in multi‑state payroll taxation, compliance audits, and reconciliations.
