Job DescriptionSummary:
This role is the designated Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for the retail population of the Central US (locations below). As part of the Retail HRBP team, you will plan and implement people and culture policies, programs, and practices that foster a high‑performance culture and align with the Retail Division’s goals. You will support talent development, mitigate employee relations issues, enhance the employee experience, and serve as the primary HR contact for all regional matters.
Please note:
This is a field‑based role that will require frequent visits to Central US retail stores, often with limited advance notice. Ideal candidates will reside within close proximity to at least one of the following locations:
- Atlanta, GA
- Chicago, IL
- St. Louis, MO
- Troy, MI
- Edina, MN
- Columbus, OH
- Indianapolis, IN
- Texas (Austin, Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio)
- Bachelor’s degree and 3‑5 years of hands‑on HR experience, preferably independently managing a population
- Knowledge of fundamental HR practices – employee relations, talent development, performance management, recruitment, compensation & benefits, and employment law
- Familiarity with HR systems – Workday, Linked In Recruiter, digital learning platforms
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently with limited advance notice
- Employee relations:
- Work proactively with retail management to minimize employee relations issues
- Conduct investigations or interventions to mitigate/resolve problems
- Approve and administer disciplinary actions
- Partner with senior management and legal on cases – recommend action plans
- Ensure adherence to all HR policies, employment‑law, regulatory and compliance requirements
- Talent development:
- Lead the annual review process for the region – manage consistency and completion
- Partner with managers throughout the year to monitor and improve employee performance
- Support promotions, career path mapping, and succession planning
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to assess needs, shape content, and champion platforms with teams
- Recruitment & exits:
- Source, interview, and assess retail talent
- Focus on pipelining for staffing new stores and key roles
- Coach managers on best hiring practices
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze retention/turnover data
- Support onboarding and offboarding operations with payroll/benefits, IT, L&D, loss prevention, etc.
- People operations:
- Coordinate with Compensation and Benefits teams to ensure competitive offerings and promote them to staff
- Work with Finance and Retail Operations on headcount planning per store
- Maintain and update the HRIS system (Workday) and assist users as needed
- Ensure parity in policies, practices and standards
- Identify and implement programs that optimize the retail employee experience
Estimated Base Salary: $95,000 - $115,000
Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
