Human Resources Director

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Director to support a university environment in Chicago, Illinois. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a strong HR professional who can manage both complex employee matters and day-to-day HR support, while working effectively in a manual environment. The person in this role must be comfortable stepping into a wide variety of HR situations, providing practical support, building trust quickly, and helping the organization navigate change.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as an HR Business Partner for an assigned client group, providing support across a broad range of HR areas.
• Manage employee relations matters, including complex cases, investigations, documentation, and partnership with legal.
• Lead the ADA reasonable accommodation process from start to finish, including the interactive process and related documentation.
• Advise leaders on performance management, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
• Support workforce planning, reorganizations, and other organizational changes.
• Assist with change management efforts related to implementations.
• Handle both strategic HRBP work and day-to-day HR issues in a non-siloed environment.
• Perform administrative HR work in a highly manual environment with non-integrated systems.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation across HR activities.
• Provide recruiting or offer support as needed.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
• May provide guidance to HR Managers, depending on business need.
