JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the HR Manager, the Human Resources Supervisor provides support to the Human Resources Department working on doing special projects and assisting with general administration regarding benefits, payroll, training, and development, legal compliance, and other human resources issues. Enjoy hands on work. The Human Resources Supervisor must be sensitive to issues of confidentiality, internal customer service and communication within a diverse staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Will supervise and provide guidance to HR staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Conduct employee relations investigations.

Coordinates that employee files are up to date.

Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and leave programs; coordinate benefit eligibility, enrollment, termination, and payments.

Oversee HRIS administration and data accuracy.

Process payroll as needed.

Oversee annual, 90-day, and 180-day performance evaluations.

Coordinate annual open enrollment process, including benefit plan communications, group meetings, and system updates.

Maintain compliance with all benefits-related laws (ACA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, etc.).Represents the organization in unemployment hearings as needed.

Coordinates and administers the accommodation process, including receiving and documenting accommodation requests and engaging in the interactive process with employees.

Assist in administering FMLA processing.

Provides written employment verification.

Coordinates new hire orientation as needed.

Assists in screening applications and resumes as needed.

Provide training to the HR team as requested.

Assists in the preparation of special events such as Agency Meetings, Annual Picnics, Christmas Party, and other office or company gatherings.

Provides support in compliance in all areas of human resources.

Assists with various Human Resources related audits.

Provides support by entering, formatting, and printing information; organizing work; relaying messages.

Protects operations by keeping HR information confidential.

Assist in updating employee files.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Coordinates mandatory annual sexual harassment prevention training in compliance with Illinois law.

Monitors changes in federal, state, and local employment law and updates HR policies and procedures accordingly.

Maintains and updates the employee handbook and HR policies.

Ensures I-9 and other compliance documents for all new hires.

Administers workers' compensation claims and coordinates return-to-work planning.

Ensures required labor law postings are current at all H.A.S. locations.

Processes offboarding and termination paperwork, including COBRA election notices and final pay compliance.

Coordinates recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, and offer letters.

Processes personnel actions, including promotions, transfers, pay changes, and employment status updates.

Administers the progressive discipline and corrective action process.

Prepares HR metrics and reporting for leadership.

Assists with HR vendor management, including benefits broker, payroll provider, and HRIS vendor relationships.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Must have above average communication skills, both verbal and written.

Must have above average organizational skills.

Must be knowledgeable with laws and ordinances related to employment.

Ability to relate to others in a sensitive, professional, and courteous manner.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials and to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Must have a basic knowledge of computers.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural preferred.

Must have a valid State Driver's License and willingness to use personal vehicle in course of employment.
