Position: Senior Manager Compensation

Location: Chicago, IL – Hybrid (Monday & Friday remote)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Contract: 1 year W2

Compensation: Up to $50/hr

Position Overview

The Senior Compensation Manager will play a critical role in developing and executing compensation strategies across North America Operations and Procurement. Reporting to the Director of North America & WHQ Compensation, this role will provide expert compensation guidance to HR Business Partners and business leaders while supporting both hourly and salaried populations across a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will bring deep compensation expertise, strong analytical and technical skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead complex, cross-functional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer compensation programs for both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Lead the annual U.S. and Canada salary structure redesign and ongoing structure development.
  • Execute annual salary planning and incentive compensation cycles.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and payout efficiency of hourly incentive plans and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct job evaluations and market benchmarking for broad-based and executive positions.
  • Provide compensation guidance and insights to HR leadership, Operations, Commercial leadership, and other business stakeholders.
  • Analyze market data and compensation trends to provide actionable recommendations.
  • Oversee salary survey participation and compensation benchmarking across multiple countries.
  • Design and implement compensation policies and programs that support internal equity, external competitiveness, fiscal responsibility, and pay-for-performance.
  • Develop and deliver compensation-related training and communications.
  • Lead large, cross-functional compensation initiatives and process improvements.
  • Influence stakeholders and drive change within a COE/shared services environment.
  • Ensure compensation practices remain compliant, competitive, and aligned with business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive compensation experience.
  • Strong experience supporting Operations and/or plant manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with both hourly and salaried populations, including union and non-union employees.
  • Experience with in a multi-site manufacturing organization with complex compensation strategies preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job evaluation, market benchmarking, salary structures, and incentive plan design.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global environment while navigating local compensation requirements and practices.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • People management experience strongly preferred.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or other HR certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
