A well-established and mission-driven organization in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced HR Supervisor to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, having meaningful responsibility, and making a visible impact across the employee lifecycle.
The HR Supervisor will play a key role in supporting employees and leadership while overseeing a broad range of HR functions. This is not a narrow, transactional HR position—you will have the opportunity to influence employee relations, benefits, compliance, payroll, HRIS, performance management, and policy development.
WHY CONSIDER THIS HR SUPERVISOR OPPORTUNITY?
• Join a respected, mission-driven organization where your HR expertise directly impacts employees and the broader community.
• Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and work-life balance.
• Receive 19 days of generous PTO plus 13 paid holidays.
• Choose from affordable medical coverage, including HMO, PPO, and HSA options through Blue Cross Blue Shield, along with dental and vision coverage.
• Build for the future with a 403(b) retirement plan, life and disability insurance, FSA options, and additional voluntary benefits.
• Receive education and training support while working alongside an established HR team.
• Take ownership of meaningful HR initiatives while partnering closely with management and employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead employee relations investigations and support progressive discipline and corrective action processes.
• Administer benefits, open enrollment, leave programs, accommodations, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes.
• Oversee HRIS data accuracy, personnel records, payroll support, and employment changes.
• Manage performance evaluation processes and assist with employee development and training.
• Monitor federal, state, and local employment regulations and ensure HR policies remain compliant.
• Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, I-9 documentation, and required labor law postings.
• Coordinate recruitment activities, onboarding, orientation, offboarding, and employment verification.
• Prepare HR metrics, reporting, audits, and compliance documentation for leadership.
• Supervise and provide guidance to HR staff while collaborating with benefits, payroll, HRIS, and other vendors.
• Travel among Chicagoland locations as needed while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
The HR Supervisor will be an important member of the HR team and an ideal fit for someone who combines strong employee-relations judgment with excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with supervisory experience. SHRM-CP or PHR is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. This is a fully on-site HR Supervisor position in Chicago, with occasional travel to Chicagoland locations.
