Halo is looking for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our HR team in Chicago. This hybrid (3 days/week in office) role is ideal for someone with ADP payroll experience who also has a passion for helping employees understand and utilize their benefits. You will play an important role in our HR function, managing benefits and payroll for ~100 employees, while also being a resource for employees and managers in support of Halo's culture.
Key Responsibilities:- Fully own Halo’s payroll processing in ADP, both ongoing payroll and year-end processes. This includes regular payroll earnings for salaried employees, as well as commissions and discretionary earnings.
- Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, and other statutory and voluntary benefits. Manage annual benefits enrollment.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS system (ADP) and ensure accuracy in provider portals.
- Collaborate with external benefit partners to ensure ongoing success in our programs.
- Proactively research changes in the external benefits and wellness market to ensure Halo provides competitive plans.
- Maintain accurate employee records in Halo’s HRIS/payroll system (ADP).
- Ensure ACA and other regulatory reporting is accurate.
- Handle payroll tax filings, coordinating with state and federal agencies and Halo's accounting team as needed.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years' experience handling payroll and employee benefits
- Experience with payroll processes and procedures, with prior experience managing payroll for a salaried population in ADP Workforce Now
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping; able to analyze data and identify and resolve discrepancies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support employees
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, exercising appropriate judgment to elevate as needed

- Competitive base salary of $55,000-$65,000, plus eligibility for annual discretionary bonus based on personal and business objectives. (
