The Market Operations Associate will play a critical role in real-time market monitoring, surveillance, and operational support while contributing to the firm's broader mission of building highly automated and efficient market operations systems. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and works closely with Compliance, Finance, Commercial and Technology teams. This role is uniquely suited for someone who has thrived in both the structured, high-pressure world of top-tier trading firms and the hands-on operational challenges of leading derivatives exchanges.
As a Market Operations Associate, you’ll do more than monitor and maintain systems—you’ll build, improve, and operate critical processes.
- Monitor live trading activity and market conditions. This position would assume the role within either of the following shift times: opening shift 6:00 am‑2:00 pm CT or closing shift 1:00 pm‑9:00 pm CT.
- Identify, document, and elevate suspicious activity to Compliance when necessary.
- Investigate real-time market incidents and own critical path escalations to Electron
X Engineering, while providing regular remediation updates to customers. - Require dedicated time in the office five days a week, based either in Electron
X’s Chicago or New York City offices.
- Collaborate with Engineering to automate monitoring tools and create real-time alerts.
- Develop Python scripts for data analysis and operational reporting.
- Use Python & SQL to build dashboards and visualization tools to improve market insights.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions.
- Oversee daily trading operations and system monitoring.
- Assist with onboarding new participants and troubleshooting issues.
- Work with Compliance on investigations and regulatory requests.
- Contribute to business continuity planning and testing.
- 2+ years of experience in derivatives trading operations (market ops, surveillance, exchange ops, etc.).
- Experience with Python & SQL—analyzing data and improving processes.
