ServiceNow Software Engineer

Morningstar is seeking a Service Now Software Engineer to join our Corporate Systems team in Chicago, IL. The role involves building and enhancing Service Now applications to support ITSM, HR Service Management, and IT Asset Management. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and deliver high‑quality Service Now configurations and customizations.

Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)

• Configure Service Now applications, modules, workflows, and interfaces to meet ITSM, HRSD, HAM, and SAM requirements.
• Design and maintain a user‑friendly Service Catalog, including request workflows and SLAs.
• Translate business needs into technical specifications and functional requirements for Service Now solutions.
• Collaborate with platform and business teams to integrate Service Now with other IT systems and third‑party applications.
• Manage data migration activities when required.
• Develop custom reports, analytics, and dashboards; experience with Performance Analytics is a plus.
• Stay current on Service Now features, tools, and best practices.
• Identify and recommend improvements to optimize Service Now solutions.
• Lead testing and quality assurance, including test automation, to ensure system stability and reliability.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all Service Now configurations and customizations.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Service Now Developer, preferably with ITSM, HRSD, and/or ITAM modules.
• Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and XML with hands‑on experience in Service Now scripting and development.
• In‑depth knowledge of ITIL processes and IT Service Management best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for designing effective Service Now solutions.
• Ability to collaborate in a team‑oriented environment and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies is a plus.

Total Cash Compensation Range: $89,625.00 – $ USD per year (inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive).
