Position: Business Analyst (Student Information Systems)

The Business Analyst supports a large K–12 district’s Student Information Systems (SIS), ensuring accurate data management, smooth system operations, and clear communication between technical teams and school‑based users. This role focuses on documenting enhancements, analyzing data flows, and developing user-friendly materials that help educators and administrators effectively use SIS platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations and enhancements of SIS and related enterprise systems.
  • Document system changes, data flows, technical requirements, and business processes.
  • Analyze integrations and system interfaces using workflow and data flow diagrams.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by writing and executing test cases.
  • Develop training materials, job aids, and user documentation.
  • Gather requirements from non‑technical stakeholders and translate them for technical teams.
  • Investigate data inconsistencies and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Model “As Is” and “To Be” workflows to support process improvements.
  • Collaborate across departments to align priorities and resolve competing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Education Policy, or related field.
  • 5+ years of business analysis experience; experience with major SIS platforms preferred.
  • 2+ years working in Agile environments using tools like Jira or Azure Dev Ops.
  • Strong documentation, requirements gathering, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI‑PBA, SAFe POPM, SA).
  • SQL experience for data validation and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of K–12 workflows (attendance, grading, scheduling, assessments, special education).
  • Familiarity with FERPA and state reporting rules.
  • Experience with process modeling, data mapping, and systems integration.
