Data Center Technician

Overview

Hardware installation and configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure. Involves rack installation, power up, and hand-off to provisioning teams. Includes troubleshooting of Telco connectivity, and network switch equipment. Works within a ticketing environment and documents activities and SOPs.

• Install and configure enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure; perform hardware installation & configuration in data centers without disturbing other hardware.
• Hardware Break/Fix replacement of FRUs.
• Rack installation, cabling, power up, and hand off of servers to internal provisioning teams.
• Troubleshoot Telco connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot and replace network switch equipment.
• Communicate within a ticketing environment used by multiple Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
• Document activities and build/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber, copper, and telecom cables.
• System power supplies and cabling install, fix, and repair; define and implement network communications and solutions in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
• Strong interest in learning new data center concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Day Shift – 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts; may include weekends and holidays.
• Night Shift – 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts; may include weekends and holidays.
• 2+ years working in an IT environment.
• Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
• Inventory management experience (ordering, receiving, shipping server parts).
• Experience taking on-call shifts and responding to critical events as needed.
• Experience raising issues to senior onsite staff and management as needed.
• IT hardware concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB).
• Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus.

• 2-year or 4-year degree or 4+ years of experience.
• 1 year+ experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber, testing of cables, cooling and electrical systems concepts inside the data center.

Hiring Range in USD from $27.07 - $54.13 per hour; from: $56,300 - $112,600 per year. May be eligible for equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations.
