Software Site Reliability Engineer

A Chicago–based trading firm building low-latency, high-performance systems that operate at global scale, are looking for a Software Site Reliability Engineer to help design, build, and operate resilient systems that support real-time trading and research.

• Design, build, and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant production systems
• Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical trading infrastructure
• Partner closely with software engineers and traders to support latency-sensitive applications
• Develop tooling and automation for monitoring, alerting, deployment, and incident response
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation efforts
• Improve observability across distributed systems (metrics, logging, tracing)
• Balance reliability, speed, and engineering efficiency in a fast-moving environment

• Strong software engineering background (Python, Go, Rust or C++)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and operating systems
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management
• Familiarity with cloud and/or on-prem infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, bare metal, etc.)
• Ability to reason about performance, latency, and capacity under load
• Calm, methodical approach to diagnosing issues in high-pressure situations

• Experience in finance, trading, or other low-latency environments
• Knowledge of CI/CD systems and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Exposure to container orchestration and service meshes
• Interest in performance tuning at the OS or network level
