Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Principal ML Engineer with strong experience building low-latency, production-grade ranking and recommendation systems
, ideally in retail or e-commerce environments
. This person will own the end-to-end ML lifecycle
, from data pipelines to inference and serving, and act as a technical leader
, translating business needs into scalable, reliable systems.

• Proven experience building low-latency ranking & recommendation systems in production
• Strong understanding of two-tower architectures and other ranking/recommendation patterns
• Experience combining business rules + ML models (e.g. XGBoost or similar)

• Experience with system safety & reliability
  , including: failover strategies, backup plans, resilient, always-on systems
• Production readiness mindset: load testing, stress testing, traffic simulation

• Strong experience with Snowflake (including GenAI use cases preferred)
• Experience integrating:
  Batch data (Snowflake)
  Real-time streams (Kafka)

• Experience building high-performance APIs with:
  Python (FastAPI)
  or Go
• Low latency services
• Efficient memory and resource usage

• Python or Go

• Apache Kafka (advanced usage)
• Experience in large-scale retail / e-commerce platforms
• Prior experience acting as a technical lead or principal-level IC

• Strong ownership mindset (ETE pipeline: data → model → inference → serving)
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working with ambiguous business requirements and turning them into scalable solutions
