Description:
Hands‑on administration and tuning of Uni Verse and other in‑production databases. Develop, implement, and support applications that interface with core systems. Part of a team that is responsible for the transfer of all system files within the Client’s database, to/from corporate systems, and external vendors and partners. Responsible for cross‑platform printing, file sharing, and security. Some light travel is possible.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide monitoring, support, and productivity enhancements for in‑house encrypted Uni Verse Databases running on Linux platforms in multiple geographies
- Perform Uni Verse database upgrades and conversions as required
- Manage database history files to facilitate application development testing
- Participate in system conversion activities with Veeam backup/restore and file transfer platforms
- Install, configure, and manage multiple instances of IBM MQ and Go Anywhere MFT across multiple geographies, utilizing SFTP, API calls, and other standard transfer protocols
- Manage and administer interface products on multiple OS platforms
- Assist in integrating and updating Uni Verse systems in Development and Test environments
- Troubleshoot problems on systems of ownership, including business applications, hardware and software solutions
- Supplement UNIX Administrator with performance analysis, security, monitoring, and upgrades of Linux environments
- Assist in disaster recovery/business continuity design and testing with replicated production data
- Assist in servers and PURE storage provisioning and administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years’ experience installing and supporting Uni Verse Database Systems a plus
- Four‑year degree majoring in Engineering or Computer Science or 4+ years’ experience working as Database Administrator
- Broad system administration background, strong UNIX skills and familiarity with Windows, and Linux
- Strong TCP‑IP, DNS, and networking skills are required in addition to knowledge of SSH certificates, GPG and PGP encryption, FIPS 140‑2, AES, SFTP, SCP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS, and RSYNC
- Proven project management skills: ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Effective communication, excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Experience with client/server technology, preferably with a PICK Uni Verse/Uni Data environment
Required working hours are approximately 8 to 5 Monday – Friday. Some after hours (early morning / evenings and Saturdays) work may be required during the week and on weekends to accomplish work within critical deadlines. The environment will be intense and fast paced.
