Job Title: Data Quality Analyst

Duration: 9 Months

Location: Chicago IL (Onsite)

Payrate: $45.00 - 50.70/hr

Project Summary

Senior Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for examining complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected, resolving data quality problems, as well as partnering with partners across various enterprises and local data management governance, data architecture, data engineering/development, and data quality teams. The role will also oversee data incident management, onboard data into the GIS Data Quality Management Program, and enforce enterprise data quality (DQ) standards.

This senior‑level role demands leadership excellence in data incident and issue resolution, metadata management, and data governance practices, while driving continuous improvements to tools, processes, and templates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional work groups to define, implement, and enforce data quality standards and control frameworks.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for DQ and data governance, supporting projects, audits, BAU, and adherence to enterprise policies.
  • Perform in‑depth data profiling, lineage mapping, and analysis across complex data environments.
  • Identify, record, and triage DQ incidents; conduct root cause analysis, assess business impact, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Apply core DQ dimensions—accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, validity—to assess data health across GIS ecosystem.
  • Maintain and enhance metadata, data dictionaries, data catalogs, and lineage documentation in support of a robust metadata repository.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on DQ metrics and dashboards to track trends and effectiveness of remediation strategies.
  • Document and share business rules, control procedures, and operational standards; serve as steward of process documentation.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, and stakeholder communications to promote DQ and data governance awareness and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience in data quality management.
  • 5–10 years of critical thinking/problem‑solving roles at an enterprise or division scale.
  • 5+ years implementing and measuring data quality controls and metrics.
  • Expert in root cause analysis, DQ issue management, and remediation planning.
  • Proven ability to work independently and drive initiatives from start to completion.
  • Strong communication skills—verbal and written—with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical mindset, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of SQL, DQ tooling, and data visualization tools is a plus.
Preferred Skills & Technology
  • Data profiling tools, data catalog/lineage solutions.
  • Hands‑on experience with business/technical metadata, data dictionaries/catalogs, and lineage tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting (Python, R, etc.), BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and data architecture principles.
