Execution Trading Systems Engineer; Production​/SRE | Global Prop Trading Firm

[Up to c. $250k Base Salary + Discretionary Bonus | Hybrid Working]

We’re working with a leading quantitative trading firm as it continues to strengthen the reliability and day‑to‑day performance of its execution technology stack. This role sits directly alongside trading desks, supporting the systems that underpin live order flow and market connectivity.

Rather than a pure development position, this is best described as a production engineering/SRE role within a trading environment. You’ll be responsible for keeping critical systems running in real time - triaging issues, making fast decisions under pressure, and taking ownership of problems as they arise. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to improving the platform through automation, stability enhancements, and operational tooling.

• Provide hands‑on support for execution systems during trading hours, ensuring continuity and stability
• Investigate live incidents across application, system, and network layers, taking ownership through to resolution
• Make real‑time decisions on escalation vs direct remediation, working independently with strong judgement
• Partner closely with traders and engineering teams to minimise impact during production issues
• Monitor system behaviour and identify early warning signs of failure or degradation
• Build lightweight tooling and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible) to improve operational efficiency
• Analyse recurring problems and implement fixes that remove root causes rather than symptoms
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in system resilience, performance, and recovery processes
• Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and visibility across trading applications
• Support and optimise exchange connectivity and execution‑related infrastructure

• 3-7 years’ experience in production engineering, SRE, Dev Ops, or application support within performance‑critical environments
• Strong hands‑on exposure to Linux in on‑prem/bare‑metal environments (essential)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot issues across application and system layers, not just infrastructure
• Experience working in environments where uptime, speed, and reliability are critical
• Practical scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and tooling
• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible or equivalent
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, routing, multicast)
• Ability to operate independently in fast‑moving environments with minimal oversight
• Strong problem‑solving instincts, particularly in time‑sensitive or ambiguous situations
• Clear communication skills when working with both technical teams and front‑office users
