THE ROLE

We are seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Chicago-based team to support our analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience manipulating and analyzing concert data (sales forecasting, pricing, artist profiling, fan demographics, etc.), building machine learning models, and leveraging data intelligence platforms for streamlining workflows and automating processes.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

• Build complex SQL queries to compile, manipulate, and aggregate data.
• Perform ad-hoc statistical/exploratory analysis including, but not limited to, regression, clustering, and optimization using Python or R.
• Conceptualize, build, and implement Machine Learning models within the Databricks platform.
• Develop and implement predictive models to optimize various aspects of the business.
• Partner with engineering and IT teams to product ionize models, debug/troubleshoot code, and integrate with other internal business systems such as Salesforce and Tableau.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as data science, computer science, statistics, or business analytics.
• Experience using statistical modeling and machine learning to solve business problems.
• Proficiency in SQL; ability to create complex queries.
• Proficiency in at least 1 programming language, ideally Python or R.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Thorough understanding of machine learning principles and experience using machine learning algorithms (e.g., gradient-boosted machines, neural networks).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to summarize complex analyses.
• Advanced statistical training and a thorough understanding of the associated strengths and weaknesses of implementing different statistical approaches is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines is a plus, but not required.

Candidate must be in the Chicago area, this is 16-week internship with a flexible start date.
