Software Asset Manager

About the Role

The Software Asset Manager is ultimately accountable for the management of software assets throughout their lifecycle to ensure compliance, reduce costs, and optimize usage. This role leverages the Software Asset Management product on the Service Now platform and works in partnership with product-specific software managers, procurement, and other stakeholders to refine and enhance software asset management processes, procedures, and governance.

Provide input and strategic guidance on the global process and governance of software asset management; collaborate with procurement, security, and IT to develop scalable procedures and policies; set up, configure, and maintain application, entitlement, and subscription data within Service Now’s Software Asset Management Professional product; review metrics and reporting to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings; remediate data inaccuracies to improve trustworthiness;

oversee the lifecycle of software assets from acquisition, deployment, reclamation, and retirement; support and recommend licensing option evaluations for software purchasing teams; assist in vendor contract negotiations; ensure licensing compliance and maintain documentation for audits; support audits, compliance reviews, and data reporting; provide training and guidance to IT staff on best practices and Service Now SAM usage.

• 3‑6 years of experience in a software asset management role
• Experience with the Service Now platform, ideally with the Software Asset Management product
• Experience reviewing and interpreting software license contracts and understanding licensing terms
• Ability to analyze data and document how the data impacts the business
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors

Total Cash Compensation Range: $89,625.00‑ (inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive).
