Computer Support Specialist
Provide support of information technology (I.T.) operations and controls for the Chicago Airports Residential Sound Insulation RSIP (RSIP), including database support, end‑user support, and computer hardware/software maintenance and upgrades.
Encourage independent work, performing tasks without direction, and reports to the Manager of Operations and Controls.
Key Responsibilities- User Support
- Set up, test, and install PCs, laptops, printers, telephones, and network connections.
- Provide onboarding I.T. support for new RSIP staff – telephone, software, account credentials, and management.
- Maintain interface with current CDA servers.
- Provide database support to users.
- Assist RSIP staff with software, system, or hardware issues or failures.
- Assist RSIP staff with telephone, telephone‑recording, or email issues.
- Assist teleworking staff with VPN and/or Remote Desktop connection issues.
- Help staff understand specific features of software, hardware, telephones, or email.
- Network Support
- Maintain network server access for all PCs, copiers, and printers.
- Verify and test backups and recovery procedures of network files.
- Manage security of all systems and apply security patches.
- Asset Management
- Track and document all I.T. hardware and software assets on a pre‑established inventory spreadsheet.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and software upgrades or replacements.
- Plan and implement equipment replacements, including set‑up and testing.
- Document equipment surplus for donation, recycling, or repurposing and assist with removal.
- Manage hardware and software licensing agreements.
- Assist tracking and documenting office and field equipment assets, if required.
- Research I.T. hardware and software and office/field equipment for purchase.
- Systems Support
- Assist in development of the RSIP database – standard queries, reports, user roles, privileges, and error troubleshooting.
- Coordinate interfaces with CDA program and project management systems – CMS, CPICS, SharePoint.
- A+ certification or equivalent demonstrating knowledge of all Windows operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, Microsoft SQL Server (2014‑2022), and SQL Server Express (2016‑2022).
- Associate’s degree in Computer Technology or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
$70,000‑$88,000 annually.
