Data Center Technician

Job Description

• Hardware installation & configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
• Hardware break/fix replacement of FRUs.
• Rack installation including placing racks, cabling, powering up, and handing off servers to internal provisioning teams.
• Troubleshooting and resolving telco connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot & replace network switch equipment.
• Communicate within a ticketing environment used and supervised by multiple internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
• Document activities and build/modify SOPs.
• Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting fiber/copper/telecom cables.
• System power supplies and cabling install, fix, and repair.
• Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast‑paced, leading‑edge database/applications company.

• Install, remove, and troubleshoot hardware in data center racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure.
• Maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed.
• Participate and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.
• Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on the tickets assigned to you.

• Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
• Strong interest in learning new DC concepts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• 5+ years working in an IT environment.
• Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices and IT equipment.
• Inventory management experience: ordering, receiving, shipping server parts.
• Experience taking on‑call shifts and ability to respond to critical events.
• Experience raising issues to senior onsite staff and management.
• IT hardware concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB).
• Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus.
• Up to 10% travel may be required.
• Day shift (4 days per week, 10‑hour shifts) and night shift (4 days per week, 10‑hour shifts); may include weekends and holidays.

• 2‑year or 4‑year degree, or 5+ years of experience.
• 1+ year experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber), cable testing, cooling and electrical systems concepts inside the data center.
