Job Summary
The SEO & AEO Specialist enhances the discoverability, accuracy, and performance of AOA’s digital content across both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven discovery platforms. This role ensures that key organizational content, such as membership benefits, board certification information, AOIA’s Emerging DO platform, OMED programs, CME resources, advocacy topics, and public education on osteopathic medicine, is easily found, accurately represented, and seen as authoritative across digital ecosystems.
Embedded within the Integrated Marketing COE, this position partners closely with Digital Content and Corporate Communications specialists, IT/web teams, and program owners to ensure digital content is structured for maximum discoverability and effectiveness.
- Monitor and analyze how LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, etc.) interpret and summarize AOA content.
- Identify inaccuracies or gaps in AI-generated outputs and recommend corrective content strategies.
- Optimize content structures including entities, FAQs, citations, and topical authority to improve LLM recognition.
- Test prompts regularly to evaluate representation of membership, board certification, CME, and OMED content.
- Lead SEO optimization for AOA web properties, including metadata, internal linking, schema markup, and content hierarchy.
- Conduct keyword and entity research to inform content planning, with a focus on semantic and conversational search.
- Perform technical SEO audits to ensure crawlability, indexing, accessibility, and content accuracy.
- Manage site taxonomy, tagging frameworks, and structured content models to improve cross-site discoverability.
- Enhance content clarity, hierarchy, and alignment with user intent across AOA digital properties.
- Recommend improvements to page templates, URL structures, and navigation to support optimized findability.
- Track organic search performance using GA4, Search Console, and SEO platforms.
- Develop insights dashboards to assess AI visibility, search trends, and entity representation.
- Deliver actionable insights that inform campaign planning, content development, and optimization priorities.
- Maintain AOA’s SEO & AI Optimization Playbook, including metadata standards, schema templates, and content-structuring guidelines.
- Provide training and documentation to reinforce findability best practices across teams.
- Collaborate with IT and digital teams on accessibility standards, structured data, and performance optimization.
- Partner with Integrated Marketing Leads to inform campaign content, landing pages, and optimization strategies.
- Support program owners across certification, membership, OMED, advocacy, and education to improve content performance.
- Coordinate with external vendors or developers on SEO, schema, and AI-enhanced features.
- Experience with SEO management tools such as SEMrush, Moz, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and Site Improve.
- Experience with Google Analytics 4 and/or enterprise analytics platforms.
- Understanding of LLM behavior and emerging AI search platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
- Experience optimizing content for AI/LLM environments, including semantic search strategies.
- Experience with structured data (schema markup), metadata, taxonomy, and digital content architecture.
- Proficiency with CMS platforms (Sitecore, Word Press, or like platforms).
- Strong analytical and communication skills and experience collaborating with content, marketing, and IT/web teams.
- Knowledge of healthcare, professional associations, online education / certification programs, and membership content models.
- Experience with framing KPIs and reporting for current and emerging platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, information science, digital strategy, or a related field.
