Unit: Information Technology Software Development

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is the largest prosecutor’s office in Pennsylvania, and one of the largest in the nation. Our Assistant District Attorneys are dedicated to public service, public safety, and justice for all involved in the criminal justice system.

Summary of Job

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is seeking an Analyst to support the office by documenting business processes, configuring and supporting software systems, and analyzing operational data. They will work closely with department staff and the IT team to ensure that technology solutions align with day-to-day workflows and organizational needs. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented analyst looking to develop their skills in a mission-driven public sector environment for prosecutors.

Duties & Responsibilities Stakeholder Engagement & Process Analysis
  • Collaborate with department staff and IT to gather requirements, define process flows, and map system dependencies.
  • Document current-state and future-state workflows using standard tools and methodologies (e.g., BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Participate in end-user training as systems are introduced or updated.
System Configuration & Support
  • Configure software applications to align departmental workflows and operational requirements.
  • Work with IT staff and vendors to implement system changes, ensuring data integrity, compatibility, and security.
  • Conduct testing and validation of system configurations before deployment.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and performance issues.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support operational decision-making.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on system or process anomalies.
Documentation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, business rules, data mappings, and process workflows.
  • Update documentation as systems, processes, or regulations change.
  • Develop user guides and training materials that help non-technical staff use systems effectively.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience as a business analyst or data analyst, with exposure to systems analysis, process documentation, or configuration management. All qualified applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a focus in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, Python, or R; familiarity with process modeling tools (e.g., BPMN, Visio) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with system configuration concepts, such as ERP or CRM platforms, workflow tools, or similar business applications.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively with both technical staff and non-technical end users.
  • Detail-oriented, with a structured approach to documentation and problem-solving.
  • Understanding of the uniquely sensitive and confidential nature of the professional services provided by the Office.
