Job Description:
As a Data Center Installation Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of critical infrastructure components within our data center facilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our data center environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and contribute to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Install server racks according to floor plans and ensure proper grounding.
- Deploy Primary and Secondary PDU units within racks for AC cage infrastructure.
- Install DC power supply and Fuse panels in racks to power equipment in DC Cage infrastructure.
- Rack and stack server and switch equipment based on rack layout.
- Install various OEM switches, ranging from 1RU to 45RU mounting switch chassis, and line cards as required.
- Safely handle rack equipment using server lifts for installation.
- Commission Console and Management Switches.
- Perform network installations following Telcordia Standards.
- Load ISO File configurations onto Servers running Windows and Linux.
- Conduct rack swaps and capacity upgrades for pre-built racks to minimize downtime.
- Provide installation services for Servers, Switches, and Routers from major OEMs.
- Configure Data Center networks in Traditional 3-Tier Architecture (core, aggregation, access) and 2-Tier Spine-Leaf Architecture.
- Execute network migrations involving multiple cages across various floors and different data center locations.
- Install Fiber Patch panels and ODF infrastructure.
- Deploy Interconnect fibers links and permanent fiber links for Data centers.
- Install Console and Management RJ-45 cables in Straight and Rollover configurations.
- Install Optical fiber with various connector ends (LC, SC, MPO) and UTP cords as per customer port mapping.
- Deploy Breakout cabling Infrastructure connected to Patch panels.
- Handle fibers and optics safely, ranging from 1
Gig to 400
Gig. - Test and troubleshoot hardware on-site, loading base configurations to Servers and switches using CLI or GUI as needed.
- Execute generic commands locally using console to restore devices from frozen state and zeroize devices if necessary during equipment migrations.
- Test fibers using OTDR, and perform cleaning and scoping of fibers as required.
- Understand site-specific documents such as EDP (Equipment Deployment Plan) and DPK (Data Patching Key) to ensure accurate installation and patching.
- Identify fiber patching and endpoint mapping as per provided documentation to maintain accurate connectivity.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in data center installation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in handling server racks, PDU units, DC power supply, and Fuse panels.
- Experience in rack and stack operations for server and switch equipment.
- Familiarity with installation of OEM switches and line cards.
- Ability to work safely with rack equipment and fibers, ranging from 1
Gig to 400
Gig. - Knowledge of network installation procedures and Telcordia Standards.
- Competency in loading ISO File configurations onto Servers running Windows and Linux.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and network issues.
- Certification in relevant areas such as network installation or fiber optics is a plus.
