Head of SRE - Quant Trading

A leading quantitative trading firm is seeking a Head of Site Reliability Engineering to help scale one of its most critical infrastructure organisations.

You will work closely with senior engineering leadership before taking responsibility for a team of SREs. This is a high-profile leadership role with significant influence over the future direction of the firm's infrastructure platform, engineering organisation, and reliability strategy.

The SRE function sits at the heart of the firm's trading platform. In an environment where markets move in milliseconds, reliability is a competitive advantage. Downtime, degraded performance, and operational inefficiencies can have immediate business impact, making this one of the most important infrastructure leadership roles within the organisation.

• Manage a team of Site Reliability Engineers.
• Drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across critical production infrastructure.
• Lead initiatives spanning observability, automation, incident management, platform engineering, and service resilience.
• Partner with engineering leadership to improve platform performance, stability, and developer productivity.
• Shape the future direction of the SRE organisation as it continues to grow.
• Influence architectural and operational decisions across the broader technology estate.

• Experience leading large SRE, Infrastructure, or Production Engineering teams.
• Background operating at scale within high-performance technology environments.
• Strong technical depth across distributed systems, reliability engineering, automation, and platform operations.
• Proven ability to lead engineering organisations while maintaining technical credibility.
• Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers.
• No finance experience required.
