Lead Data Engineer

We are a major cryptocurrency-based startup that is profitable, with about 100 employees, and looking to double in size next year. We're seeking our first Lead Data Engineer, where you'll be a hands-on leader to a team of less experienced data engineers and analysts. As our first Lead Data Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to recommend new tools & technology to use, to maximize efficiency and value.

We are looking for someone who loves working in fast-paced environments, and is passionate about building sustainable solutions as we continue to grow our business.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and build reliable data pipelines to clean, aggregate, and transform large volumes of data from multiple sources.
• Develop versatile software components to extract useful information from various unstructured or semi-structured text data.
• Implement new tools and technology to support Data Engineering efforts.
• Lead, mentor and guide a team of less experienced data engineers and analysts
• Work closely with data scientists to develop, test and iterate data models and algorithms.
• Contribute to company-wide data privacy compliance efforts.

Skills We're Seeking

• 5+ years of experience with Data Engineering
• Extensive experience in building large scale data pipelines with mainstream big data stack.
• Strong expertise in extracting useful information from unstructured and semi-structured text data.
• Experience with Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Experience with SQL and No

• Experience working in fast-paced, Agile environments
• A passion for cryptocurrency

• Experience with Java development
