Sr. Consultant, Release Management, HFS – Individual Contributor
The role involves working for Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services (HFS), a global fund administrator specializing in complex hedge funds and alternative asset investments. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self‑starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic leader/manager in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and demanding environment. They will have a strong technical background, experience working within the technology industry, and a proven track record of solving business problems.
This position is a key part of the HFS Omnium Change Management team, responsible for coordinating changes to ensure stability for the Omnium Platform.
This role focuses on Release Management within the Omnium Change Management team. Working closely with Product Owners and Development teams, the candidate will support production releases during standard business hours, after‑hours, and weekends, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy and optimizing technology sequencing and delivery.
Major Duties- Provide release‑related support for multiple technology teams.
- Confirm that Fixed Versions are created in Azure Dev Ops and that User Stories are associated with the Fix Version.
- Coordinate with Release Management and Omnium Support teams for code deployments into INT and Production environments.
- Ensure all test plan and approval/sign‑off documentation required for Production releases are uploaded into the Release Management tool.
- Plan and coordinate pre‑release and in‑flight release activities, including creating release runbooks as needed, facilitating preparation calls with key stakeholders, and providing regular stakeholder status updates.
- Track release progress, manage risks, and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
- Complete post‑release activities, such as closing INT and PROD Service Now requests and cleaning up the Release Management UI (Bi‑Frost) package.
- Demonstrate leadership throughout testing cycles; effectively lead meetings, drive agendas, set expectations, hold the team accountable for results, and proactively follow up on takeaways.
- Participate in monthly release retrospectives to identify lessons learned and foster a culture of continuous improvement for testing and release management workflows.
- Identify broken processes and recommend improvements to streamline and optimize delivery execution.
- Use sound judgement to escalate issues appropriately and timely, including solution options and associated impacts to drive effective decision‑making.
- Demonstrate critical thinking to anticipate and connect opportunities and resolve challenges or escalations.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and high emotional intelligence to build productive, strategic relationships.
- Act as a self‑starter, performing independently with limited coaching, while leading peers and consulting with shared services teams across HFS and Northern Trust to solve issues.

- A minimum of 3–10+ years of experience;
Agile, project coordination, or release management preferred. - Experience with technology, financial services, or alternative asset management is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Atlassian and/or Azure Dev Ops, or a willingness to learn.
