Job Description
At Cboe Global Markets, we provide the financial infrastructure that powers the global economy. As a leading provider of market infrastructure and tradable products, Cboe delivers cutting‑edge trading, clearing and investment solutions to market participants around the world.
Location OverviewCboe Global Markets operates a key office in the Overland Park Xchange (OPx), located in Overland Park, Kansas. The OPx business park is strategically positioned to provide convenient access to the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering modern infrastructure and a collaborative environment ideal for the financial services and technology industries.
Role OverviewThe Network Engineer – Operations is a core member of Cboe’s global infrastructure organization. The role focuses on operating, supporting, and continuously improving the reliability, performance, and fairness of network connectivity across highly distributed, latency‑sensitive trading platforms spanning on‑prem and cloud environments. This is a hands‑on engineering role for experienced network technologists with deep expertise in routing, MPLS, firewalls, and packet‑level troubleshooting, combined with working knowledge of cloud networking and automation.
NOC Engineers own complex troubleshooting, real‑time monitoring, incident response, change execution, and customer connectivity onboarding. They collaborate directly with internal engineering teams and external customers, serve as escalation points, and translate complex issues into actionable outcomes for both technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
The role also emphasizes building efficient, modern operations through scripting, automation, and API‑driven workflows to improve observability, accelerate root cause analysis, and reduce mean time to repair (MTTR). Strong operational judgment, communication skills, and the ability to translate telemetry and packet‑level data into clear insights are essential. Engineers operate effectively in a high‑availability, always‑on environment while supporting and evolving a next‑generation, software‑driven network and cloud operations function.
YourResponsibilities
- Engineer and support customer connectivity across on‑prem and cloud environments, including circuit provisioning, AWS networking, and VPN connectivity, while configuring and deploying production changes across routing, firewall, and cloud network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and support complex network environments (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast, HSRP), partnering with customers and internal teams to validate connectivity, onboard new participants, and resolve issues across latency‑sensitive trading systems.
- Provide real‑time monitoring and incident response for global network infrastructure, analyzing telemetry, packet loss, and performance data to proactively identify issues and drive rapid resolution with clear communication.
- Deliver high‑quality customer support through ticket queues and direct engagement, serving as a trusted technical resource and ensuring clear, timely communication with both customers and internal stakeholders.
- Lead escalations and advanced troubleshooting efforts across network, cloud, and infrastructure domains, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors to restore service and resolve complex issues.
- Develop and maintain automation, monitoring enhancements, and observability tooling using scripting and API‑driven integrations to improve efficiency, visibility, and troubleshooting speed.
- Perform deep packet analysis and contribute to root cause investigations, translating low‑level network data into clear findings that support long‑term problem management and service improvement.
- 2+ years of hands‑on network engineering experience across Cisco, Arista, and/or Palo Alto environments, with strong fundamentals in routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network issues, including packet analysis using tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, tshark, or similar.
- 2+ years of UNIX/Linux experience, including shell access and command‑line troubleshooting, with an emphasis on network diagnostics.
