Job Overview
As an associate Database Administrator at the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), you will design and maintain database solutions that operate within prescribed resource limits and meet company standards. You will actively participate in system development projects, monitor and tune database and application performance, and provide on‑call support for production issues.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases.
- Manage database performance and disk usage.
- Provide support for database access methods.
- Consult on database analysis, modeling, coding, and production problem resolution.
- Develop maintenance, backup, and recovery procedures and documentation.
- Participate in disaster recovery drills.
- Provide primary on‑call support for production problems.
- Understand and support corporate data standards.
- Recommend and assist with new DBMS and operational standards.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of new software and release upgrades.
- Support business studies, proposal teams, and feasibility studies.
- Prepare system documentation.
- Maintain metadata repositories.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- 3+ years’ experience as an associate DBA.
- Proficient in DML, DDL, and database utilities for at least two DBMS technologies.
- Proficient in all access methods of a DBMS and underlying operating system access methods.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business.
- 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- 1+ year of Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD skills or enthusiastic to learn.
- 3+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL.
- Microsoft Certified:
Database Administrator Associate.
