Under general direction, the IT Technical Associate (Application Analyst
- Epic Beacon and Research) works closely with clinicians, operational leaders, vendors, and Information Services teams to support and enhance clinical and business software applications, including the electronic health record (EHR). This role is responsible for applications throughout their full lifecycle – from gathering requirements and configuring solutions to testing, training preparation, go-live support, and ongoing optimization. The analyst helps improve workflows, patient safety, and operational efficiency while ensuring systems remain reliable, integrated, and compliant.
Provides production application support, including participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and business stakeholders, vendor partners, and Information Services teams to ensure healthcare applications, including the EHR, meet organizational needs.
- Support assigned healthcare applications across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, configuration/build, testing, training planning and materials, cutover preparation, go-live support, and post-implementation optimization.
- Elicit, analyze, and document clinical and operational workflows, business requirements, goals, and risks to define application requirements and enhancement opportunities.
- Analyze existing business and clinical processes and recommend application-based solutions to improve workflow efficiency, patient safety, productivity, and financial performance.
- Participate in the design, configuration, and implementation of healthcare application solutions, including development of functional designs, build documentation, and related specifications.
- Perform testing of application configurations, modifications, upgrades, and enhancements in accordance with established testing policies and procedures.
- Plan, execute, and validate regular software upgrades, patches, and releases to ensure system stability, functionality, and compliance.
- Support integration and interoperability across healthcare applications, including coordination with third-party vendors and internal teams for interfacing systems and shared data workflows.
- Communicate application changes, impacts, and planned downtime to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner, and identify opportunities to improve application-related policies, procedures, and work practices.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of clinical and operational data produced by supported applications to assist with troubleshooting, reporting, and workflow design.
- Engage with vendors to analyze solutions, coordinate issue resolution, and support enforcement of vendor service level agreements (SLAs).
- Assist in ensuring application configurations and workflows adhere to regulatory, medical, campus, and university standards.
- Provide application support, including participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule, and complete required training and certifications within established timelines.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related information management field or a clinical area of study.
