AWS Big Data Architect
Location: Chicago
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Employment Type: Contract
We are looking for an AWS Big Data Architect to support cloud data initiatives and enterprise analytics projects. This role will focus on designing scalable data solutions, supporting cloud modernization efforts, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve data accessibility and performance.
The ideal candidate should have experience working with AWS data services, data integration tools, and modern cloud-based architectures.
Responsibilities- Design and support AWS-based data platforms and analytics solutions
- Develop scalable ETL and data integration pipelines
- Collaborate with engineering and business teams to gather data requirements
- Support data migration and cloud transformation initiatives
- Optimize data storage, processing, and reporting workflows
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are maintained
- Assist with troubleshooting and performance tuning activities
- Create technical documentation and architecture diagrams
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Knowledge of big data and distributed processing concepts
- Experience with ETL development and data pipeline design
- Familiarity with SQL and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with tools such as Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop
- Understanding of cloud architecture best practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with Redshift, Glue, or EMR
- Exposure to Python or Scala
- Familiarity with Airflow or workflow orchestration tools
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- AWS certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience will also be considered
