Sr. Architect – AWS Cloud & Dev Ops Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Architect with 12–14 years of experience in designing robust cloud-native solutions on the AWS platform. This role requires expertise in AWS architecture, Git Hub-driven Dev Ops pipelines, API Gateway implementations, and Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The ideal candidate will drive the design of secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective enterprise solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design scalable cloud-native architectures on AWS that align with enterprise standards and support secure, resilient, and cost-efficient digital solutions.
- Define end-to-end solution patterns using AWS services, API Gateway, and supporting technologies to ensure consistent integration practices.
- Create architecture diagrams and technical documentation that clearly describe system interactions, data flows, and security controls.
- Partner with product owners and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Review application designs and Git Hub repositories to ensure compliance with architecture standards, security best practices, and performance expectations.
- Establish and promote Dev Ops best practices utilizing Git Hub workflows and AWS-native tools.
- Lead Infrastructure as Code initiatives using Terraform to enable repeatable, auditable, and version-controlled deployments.
- Optimize AWS resources and implement cost-governance strategies while maintaining performance and scalability.
- Develop API strategies leveraging API Gateway, including routing, throttling, monitoring, and security configurations.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement identity management, encryption, logging, and monitoring solutions.
- Provide architectural oversight for major deployments, cloud migrations, and enterprise modernization initiatives.
- Mentor engineering teams on cloud-native architecture patterns, Dev Ops methodologies, and platform engineering best practices.
- Participate in architecture review boards and technology governance forums to evaluate risks, trade-offs, and long-term sustainability.
- 12+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with AWS services including compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Strong expertise with Git Hub source control, branching strategies, pull requests, and workflow automation.
- Proven experience implementing Dev Ops practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation.
- Advanced experience developing and managing Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code across complex environments.
- Deep understanding of API design principles, RESTful architectures, microservices, and API Gateway implementations.
- Experience collaborating with distributed and hybrid teams while maintaining strong communication and documentation practices.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on reliability, observability, operational excellence, and cloud governance.
- Familiarity with security standards, compliance requirements, and best practices for large enterprise environments.

Salary and Other CompensationThe annual salary for this position is between $102,000 and $160,000
, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
