Software Architect, Systems Engineer, IT Support

We are currently looking for a Software Architect to join our client, an IT Service Development company.

This is a W2 Contracted role that is operated on an fully remote basis out of the United States. Some occasional business trips might be required to the United Kingdom.

Overview

The Software Architect will define and maintain the architectural vision, standards, and patterns across the software engineering landscape. This role provides technical leadership to multiple development squads, ensuring performance, scalability, security, and maintainability across solutions.

Responsibilities

• Defining architectural standards and best practices
• Aligning technical strategy with engineering leadership
• Reviewing and approving key architectural decisions
• Supporting development squads with technical guidance
• Identifying technical debt and architectural risks
• Ensuring compliance with security and operational requirements
• Mentoring developers and promoting engineering excellence

Required experience:

• Proven background in software architecture and system design
• Expertise in modern architecture: APIs, microservices, event-driven systems
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Dev Ops practices
• Strong understanding of scalability, security, and performance optimization
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have:

• Experience in the transport sector or similar domains
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Exposure to enterprise architecture frameworks
