Software Services Specialist
The Software Services Specialist is responsible for proactively supporting and maintaining the health, stability, and performance of STERIS Sterile Processing and Connectivity software environments. This role serves as a key technical resource, identifying and resolving software, database, server, network, and hardware-related issues before they impact Customer operations. The Specialist works closely with Customer IT teams, supports software implementations and upgrades, develops reports and queries, and contributes to testing and documentation efforts to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
WhatYou'll Do as a Software Services Specialist
- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve software, database, server, network, and printer-related issues to maintain stable Customer environments.
- Analyze application and system logs to identify and address potential issues before they impact Customers.
- Partner with Customer IT teams to investigate technical concerns, implement solutions, and support ongoing system performance.
- Perform software installations, upgrades, migrations, and configuration activities, ensuring successful deployments and data integrity.
- Execute data loads, scripts, custom queries, and reports while validating accuracy and quality of deliverables.
- Document Customer interactions, technical findings, implementations, and resolutions within support and project management systems.
- Escalate complex issues to senior technical specialists with thorough diagnostic information and recommendations.
- Participate in software testing, identify defects, and contribute to continuous product and process improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles to support team effectiveness and Customer success.
- Provide guidance and support to team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Skills and Abilities
Needed
Required:
- Bachelor Degree preferred;
Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience considered. - In lieu of a Bachelor Degree:
Associate Degree with 8 years of related experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience. - 4 years of experience in technical support of computers, networks, and software applications.
- Experience working with MS SQL Server and performing basic database queries.
- Proficiency with personal computers, laptops, printers, and various hardware and software configurations.
- Experience or exposure to programming in MS Access, Java, Visual Basic, C#, or a similar language.
- Ability to diagnose and coordinate resolution of basic hardware issues on computers and peripheral equipment.
- Physical location with access to high-speed internet (cable modem) with capability to retain a permanent IP address.
- Potential to travel domestically within the US and Canada (0-5%)
Preferred:
- Exposure to healthcare environments is a plus
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Exposure to CRM systems is a plus
Other:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with Customers and team members.
- Demonstrates solid interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with Customers via phone and email.
- Exhibits strong problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate moderately complex situations and determine appropriate pre-emptive or corrective actions.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and accountability in performing and documenting technical tasks.
- Ability to communicate professionally in moderately high-pressure situations.
- Ability to independently research and investigate emerging technical problems before they escalate.
- Willingness to assist and guide team members on routine issues.

Pay range for this opportunity is $65,450.00 - $84,700.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
