Key ResponsibilitiesThe AS400 System Administrator's key responsibilities include:
- Day to Day operation support (installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of our AS400 systems, performance and reliability tuning based on application requirements)
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution and document the steps
- System Setup and Configuration
- Backup and Recovery
- Customer Support
- Install, configure, and maintain AS400 hardware and software components
- OS Upgrades, Subsystem like Java, Tomcat, etc. customizations
- Maintain optimum system resource allocation in line with business requirements
- Set up user accounts and define access permissions
- Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to optimize performance
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Regularly back up critical data and ensure data integrity
- Test and execute disaster recovery plans when necessary
- Implement security policies and access controls to protect AS400 systems
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Address security breaches and enforce compliance with security protocols
- Provide technical support to end-users and resolve system-related issues
- Offer training and guidance to users on AS400 system usage
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures
- Manage the installation and updates of AS400 software applications
- Ensure software licenses are up to date and compliant
- Collaborate with vendors for technical support and issue resolution
- Ensure AS400 systems comply with industry regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies
- Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator for IBM i
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for AS400
- Knowledge of programming languages like RPG/PLEX (Report Program Generator)
- Familiarity with AS400-related software and tools
