Background

Scaling Community Violence Intervention for a Safer Chicago , or SC2, a multi-sector collaborative initiative to test the hypothesis that if we reach a critical number of the highest risk individuals in the neighborhood most impacted by violence that through direct impact on the individuals and through spill over effect, violence will be reduced in the neighborhood. SC2 is a partnership between PSPC, the Civic Committee, other philanthropic organizations, CVI practitioners, and researchers.

The initiative began in FY24 and will last until FY29. Currently, four communities are in full-implementation mode and three are in capacity building to strengthen practice and capacity.

This position is hosted at Chicago CRED. Chicago CRED is a mission driven organization working to achieve transformational reduction in violence in Chicago. CRED works by offering direct services to those who are at the highest risk of violence, advocating for policy reform to increase public investment into community violence interventions, and promoting cross-sector coordination to achieve maximum impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The data coordinator will be responsible to work in collaboration with all SC2 communities to help with technical assistance and day to day data responsibilities. This position will work closely with the SC2 Director of Implementation and will be responsible for cleaning data coming in from various sources (Salesforce, Apricot, Red Cap, Evolve, Neon One etc) to be able to curate a report that can align and will feed into a singular data system.

Chicago CRED is seeking a Data coordinator to help work across a broad spectrum of stakeholders, build capacity for organizations in our neighborhoods.

  • Document data field dictionary/business glossary of Apricot objects and fields used by SC2 programs
  • Coordinate the migration of data into Apricot from third‑party systems
  • Data analysis for SC2 Capacity Building communities to help inform performance and strategize with SC2 leadership on technical next steps
  • Assist with data clean up tasks such as duplicates and cleaning for warehouse accessibility
  • Assist in managing projects for Apricot optimization and updates
  • Assist in user access management with the timely addition and removal of users
  • Participate in and contribute to SC2 and data transformation committees and projects
  • Ability to align data security standards with those that are nationally approved
  • Other case management system and data management duties as assigned
  • Manage short and long‑term data projects including gathering requirements, developing project timelines, selecting appropriate tools for data cleansing, analysis, and visualization.
  • Create reports in the database to share updates with the hubs as well as reporting back to funders (as applicable)
  • Provide SC2 organizations with technical assistance and evaluation oversight.
  • Collect and analyze crime and violence data from a range of public and private sources including the City of Chicago Violence Reduction Dashboard, City of Chicago Data Portal, Salesforce, external violence prevention organizations, etc.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, SQL, etc) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience working with data security measures and architecture.
  • Experience using visualization tools such as Adobe Indesign, Tableau, and/or Power BI
  • Experience with mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS etc)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present to various stakeholders of varied technical backgrounds.
  • Experience in data monitoring, cleaning, and analysis for varying audiences.
  • Experience using different data platforms such as Salesforce, Apricot, etc
  • Experience using data to support and/or measure impact of social service programs.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree or relevant experience required
Location

This position will be based in Chicago’s West Side, South Side, etc. with local travel to site locations.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work with a computer for extended periods of time-up to 70%.
  • This position primarily works a hybrid schedule Monday-Friday during business hours but may require nights and weekends on some occasions.
Compensation

$55,000 – $65,000 (commensurate on experience)
