PostgreSQL Database Administrator; DBA)

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage enterprise PostgreSQL database environments across both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

This role will be responsible for database administration, performance optimization, high availability, disaster recovery, security, migrations, automation, and ongoing support of mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on PostgreSQL expertise, experience supporting complex enterprise environments, and the ability to work collaboratively across development, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, clone, maintain, and support PostgreSQL database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance across production, staging, and development environments.
• Manage database objects including schemas, tables, indexes, partitions, views, functions, and stored procedures.
• Perform routine database maintenance and proactively identify potential performance or availability issues.
• Analyze slow-running queries, execution plans, and database workloads to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Design and maintain effective indexing strategies and optimize PostgreSQL configuration parameters.
• Troubleshoot database performance issues related to CPU, memory, storage, networking, and application workloads.
• Develop, test, document, and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Execute database refreshes, restores, and recovery activities as needed.
• Implement and maintain database security standards, controls, and best practices.
• Support database migrations, including Oracle to PostgreSQL, SQL Server to PostgreSQL, and on-premises to Azure.
• Implement cloud-native database monitoring and automation solutions.
• Optimize cloud database environments for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud database architectures.
• Partner with development teams on database design, reliability, resource utilization, operational efficiency, troubleshooting, and application support.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve database-related issues.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and database management standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL database administration experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant professional experience.
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL administration across enterprise on-premises and cloud environments.
• Experience with database migrations, particularly:
• Oracle to PostgreSQL
• SQL Server to PostgreSQL
• On-premises to Microsoft Azure
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Experience with backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
• Strong understanding of database security and infrastructure best practices.
• Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing database infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• PostgreSQL, cloud, database, or related technical certifications.
• Experience evaluating and recommending database software, infrastructure, and hardware solutions.
• Experience with database automation and cloud-native monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud database environments.
