United's Digital Technology team creates and supports scalable technology solutions using software, data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and digital products. Internship opportunities are available at our Chicago and Houston corporate support centers.
This posting includes four distinct internship opportunities:
Digital Technology, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity & Digital Risk. During screening, candidates will select one opportunity and will be considered for that selected role.
During the summer, you will contribute to meaningful projects in a collaborative environment that values curiosity and different perspectives. Through on-the-job training, leadership development, mentorship, and presentations, you will strengthen your technical, analytical, and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to a meaningful project aligned with business or technology priorities.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business partners, and other interns.
- Analyze information, solve problems, and recommend practical solutions.
- Build or support technology solutions, analyses, models, dashboards, reports, or security initiatives based on team placement.
- Present project findings and recommendations to team members and leaders.
What's Needed to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and planning skills.
- Ability to collaborate, solve problems, and communicate findings clearly.
- High level of integrity and commitment to protecting confidential information.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Successful completion of the interview process.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
Role-Specific Qualifications
Digital Technology
- Preferred:
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field. - Preferred:
Experience building or using AI agents and using AI to develop software safely and reliably.
Advanced Analytics
- Required:
Proficiency in SQL and Python. - Preferred:
Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Informatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. - Preferred:
Experience building analytical models or using data visualization tools.
Machine Learning
- Required:
Proficiency in SQL and Python. - Preferred:
Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Informatics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. - Preferred:
Experience with traditional machine learning, deep learning, or generative AI. - Required:
Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field. - Preferred:
Proficiency in SQL or Python. - Preferred:
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or MITRE ATT&CK. - Preferred:
Experience with AWS or Azure and an understanding of identity and access management concepts or tools.
