Job Summary:

This position serves as a vital connection between platform engineering teams and the data science community, focusing on empowering data scientists to successfully build, deploy, and operationalize their solutions. Working within Global Data Assets & Analytics, you will enable internal consumers across Crop Science to leverage cutting-edge platforms and data products effectively. Your role extends beyond traditional technical support to encompass education, advocacy, and community building, ensuring that data scientists can maximize their productivity while adhering to best practices.

You will gather insights from the developer community, translate technical concepts into accessible content, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to shape the future direction of data science platforms and tools. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by bridging the gap between technology and its users, fostering innovation, and driving the success of enterprise-scale data science initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with data science community members to implement best practices and align solutions with platform vision and roadmap
  • Develop, contribute, and maintain tools that simplify platform operations and enhance developer productivity
  • Create comprehensive educational content including technical documentation, tutorials, and training materials for diverse audiences
  • Provide technical support to data scientists through multiple channels including documentation, communication platforms, and direct engagement
  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate developer feedback to engineering teams, advocating for community needs and platform improvements
  • Foster and grow an engaged data science community through relationship building with key influencers and community leaders
  • Organize and facilitate community events such as hackathons, workshops, and meetups to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and offer guidance on best practices for modeling and operationalizing solutions
  • Act as an evangelist for platforms, technologies, and data products, showcasing their value through various channels and events
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and product managers to optimize utilization of shared tools
  • Participate in internal workshops and events to promote organizational offerings and inspire innovative solution development
  • Translate complex technical concepts into accessible content for stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Advocate for developer needs with product and engineering teams to help shape future platform direction
Skills
  • Proficiency in Python or R programming languages
  • Experience with data science libraries including pandas, Num Py, and scikit-learn
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Strong technical documentation and educational content creation abilities
  • Collaborative working style with cross-functional team experience
  • Understanding of data science platforms and MLOps practices
  • Knowledge of model deployment strategies and workflows
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms and data science workflows
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
  • Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git
  • Understanding of code review processes and CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate feedback between technical and business stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across diverse technical environments
  • Community building and engagement capabilities
Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
