Programs Underwriter

The Role

To evaluate and underwrite Commercial Programs, written on a surplus-lines basis via MGA partnerships on behalf of Canopius US Insurance (CUSI), in accordance with the approved business plan and defined personal authority limits.

• Review individual submissions to MGA’s for policies that fall outside of their assigned authority levels.
• Comply with company policies and risk appetite.
• Adhere to Underwriting guidelines and contract terms such as risk limits, rates, and aggregate limits.
• Conduct monthly and annual audits.
• Further develop company relationships with assigned MGAs.

• 3-7 years of commercial underwriting experience.
• General knowledge in Commercial Property/Liability/Auto/IM/MTC/Excess/Package Underwriting in one or more of the following classes:
  Mercantile, Hospitality, Habitational, Transportation, Manufacturing, Wholesale and Cannabis; preferably a generalist.
• Individual desk underwriting / quoting experience.
• Interpret written guidelines for Underwriting rules and apply to real life scenarios.
• Communication skills.
• Ability to work and learn with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Have accountability for assigned tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Decision maker.
• Ability to adapt and change.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
