Complex Claims Specialist – Miscellaneous Professional Liability

• Adjust and resolve complex mid- to high-severity miscellaneous professional liability claims from inception to resolution.
• Draft complex coverage letters, reservation of rights, and denial letters.
• Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings.
• Drive litigation best practices and lead defense strategy on litigated files.
• Mentor team members and influence positive claim outcomes through investigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Identify emerging exposures and claim trends.
• Identify suspected fraudulent claims and collaborate with the special investigations unit.
• Accurately document claim files with all relevant correspondence and notes in compliance with company policies and regulatory authorities.

• 6+ years of Professional Liability and/or Specialty/Financial lines claims handling experience.
• JD from an ABA-accredited law school (preferred).
• Proven ability to positively affect complex claim outcomes through investigation, negotiation, and litigation leadership.
• Advanced knowledge of coverage within the team’s specialty or focus.
• Advanced knowledge of the litigation process and negotiation skills.
• Experience in mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced analytical skills.
• B.A./B.S. degree required; JD is optimal.
• Adjuster licensing required within 90 days of employment.

• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to advance product innovation or develop a deeper understanding of other business areas through cross‑team projects.
• Demonstrated courage and confidence in addressing and solving difficult or severe matters with insureds, attorneys, and brokers.
• Experience attending and leading mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced and changing environment.

$125,000 – $155,000 (dependent on scope, complexity, location, and experience).
