The Opportunity
We're looking for a Liability Claims Adjuster to help us manage a growing volume of third-party homeowners liability claims with the same rigor and customer focus we bring to every part of the claims process. As Kin's book of business expands, this role is critical to protecting our customers and stakeholders through complex casualty files involving bodily injury, property damage, and litigation.
You'll bring deep third-party claims expertise to a team that's actively rethinking how insurance should work.
Your Responsibilities
Investigate coverage, liability, and damages on casualty claim files involving complex issues, severe injuries, and multiple parties
Conduct recorded statements, consult with police and experts, inspect property damage, and review medical records to build a complete claim picture
Evaluate liability and damages exposure, including bodily injury and property damage
Set and adjust reserves based on ongoing investigation findings
Manage pre-suit and litigation claims with outside counsel, including mediations, depositions, and other litigation events
Identify and refer potential subrogation or fraud indicators
Maintain clear, accurate claim file documentation in compliance with state regulations and company guidelines
Own a caseload of claims from first notice of loss through resolution
Use AI tools where they support faster, more accurate claims handling, consistent with team practice
Success in This Role
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.
By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.
A full caseload of liability claims is being managed accurately and on time, from FNOL through resolution
Litigation files are progressing smoothly with outside counsel, with no missed deadlines or preventable escalations
Reserve accuracy has improved through consistent, well-documented investigation practices
Subrogation and fraud referrals are being caught early and handled appropriately
What You'll Bring
1–2 years minimum experience adjusting liability property claims, including bodily injury and property damage
Direct experience working attorney-represented, litigated claims
