We are seeking an Actuarial Specialist
to join our actuarial team and lead key actuarial and analytical initiatives. This role is ideal for a professional with strong technical expertise, communication skills, sound business judgement, and the ability to translate complex actuarial insights into actionable recommendations for underwriting and senior leadership teams.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain pricing models to support informed underwriting decisions.
- Contribute to monitoring portfolio performance, profitability, rate adequacy, and emerging trends to support pricing decisions and regulatory filings.
- Perform profitability and portfolio reviews that integrate reserving, pricing, and underwriting perspectives to evaluate business performance and emerging trends.
- Provide actuarial pricing support for large complex accounts in collaboration with underwriters.
- Mentor junior analysts by reviewing their work and supporting their development.
- Lead research initiatives on emerging trends, cost drivers, and market dynamics.
- Build and automate data pipelines, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve pricing efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead ad hoc actuarial and cross-functional projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years P&C actuarial experience; ACAS or near-ACAS preferred
- Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, VBA, or R is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively to cross-functional teams.
This position follows a hybrid schedule, with 40% of work time spent in our Chicago office.
Compensation and Benefits:Base salary range for this position is $125,000 – 165,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and location.
