Firm Overview

BCM Law, P.C., with offices in Chicago, Bloomington/Normal and St. Louis, was founded in 1997 with a vision to provide skilled and aggressive defense for employers, insurers and third-party administrators of complex legal matters in workers’ compensation defense, civil litigation defense, insurance law, employment law and Medicare Compliance. BCM Law, P.C., is seeking an experienced, organized and highly motivated team member to join our growing firm as full-time Paralegal.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and issuing records subpoenas for medical/employment records, preparing riders for subpoenas, and notices of records subpoenas, as well as following up with providers for receipt of records
  • Preparing and issuing subpoenas for depositions of treating physicians and other witnesses
  • Coordinating and scheduling depositions with treating physicians’ offices, attorneys of record and witnesses
  • Preparing medical and deposition abstracts/summaries
  • Organize electronic uploads of claim file materials, medical records, and discovery responses from opposing counsel
  • Docketing depositions, case management hearings, motions, etc.
  • Performing other job duties as assigned
Preferred Requirements

Preferred requirements for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or three to five consecutive years of related experience and/or training required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Paralegal Certificate
  • Experience in workers' compensation and civil litigation preferred, medical malpractice or personal injury litigation
  • Knowledge of Odyssey eFile Illinois and Comp File
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, takes initiative
  • Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and billing and Document Management Software (e.g. Perfect Law);
    Prior billing experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
