Legal Secretary
Our client, a respected law firm in Chicago, is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to support its Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Support attorneys on Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases, including large Chapter 11 and adversary matters.
- Draft pleadings, orders, notices, certificates of service, subpoenas, and proofs of claim.
- Manage case documents, review materials, prepare exhibits, and maintain case logs.
- Coordinate electronic filings in bankruptcy courts nationwide.
- Conduct legal research and retrieve dockets, filings, and other case information.
- Track deadlines, maintain calendars, and assist with trial preparation.
- Collaborate with litigation support teams on matters overlapping with litigation.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate.
- 3+ years of bankruptcy or litigation experience.
- Strong e-filing skills and familiarity with bankruptcy court systems.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and (ideally) Best Case software.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
- Base salary: $80,000–$95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
