Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced In-House Employment Counsel to join our legal team. This role is ideal for a passionate employment litigator who desires to continue practicing in a dynamic, in-house setting within the healthcare industry. The successful candidate will manage a high volume of employment litigation matters, providing strategic legal support and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Litigation Management:
• Handle all aspects of employment-related litigation, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and other employment claims.
• Represent the organization in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies to protect the company's interests.

• Legal Advisory:
• Provide proactive legal counsel to management and HR teams on employment law matters.
• Advise on policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws specific to the healthcare sector.

• Case Analysis and Strategy Development:
• Conduct thorough case assessments and develop effective defense strategies.
• Collaborate with external counsel when necessary to manage complex litigation.

• Compliance and Training:
• Ensure the company remains compliant with all employment laws and regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programs for management and staff on employment law topics and best practices.

• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all litigation matters and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Prepare detailed reports on litigation trends and potential impacts on the organization.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar (IL. NJ, PA, or CA)

• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of dedicated management-side employment litigation experience.
• Proven track record in handling employment-related lawsuits for hospital systems or acute care facilities.
• At least a year of in-house experience

• Skills:
• Strong litigation skills with a hands-on approach.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• High level of professionalism and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an in-house legal department, preferably within a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific employment issues and regulations.
• Ability to provide strategic legal guidance aligned with business objectives.
