Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Prepare and file electronic documents in State and Federal courts.
- Track case deadlines in Illinois and other federal cases nationwide.
- Understand local rules, practice and procedures.
- Draft and edit documents, including client engagement letters and new matter forms.
- Develop and maintain time records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases and review invoices.
- Meet and confer with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss cases, projects, and ongoing client development initiatives.
- Review and monitor case dockets to identify, summarize, and circulate relevant information.
- Manage hearing preparation and support, preparing hearing materials and deposition summaries.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and equivalent work experience required. Paralegal certificate a plus.
- Experience managing large case dockets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to contact courts and regulatory agencies to gather information.
- Ability to organize electronic pleadings and files.
- Strong attention to detail and experience with depositions, including preparation of witness files, exhibits, trial binders, assisting and attending trials when necessary.
- Self-starter that can perform tasks that require independent judgment and manage numerous projects from several attorneys simultaneously under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and to make recommendations.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Proficiency in Docu Sign, Kofax PDF and Litera Compare (or similar.)
Low: $70,000 - High: $90,000.
