A prominent, growth-focused litigation firm in Chicago is seeking a seasoned Litigation Associate Attorney or senior-level General Litigation Attorney ready to step into a Lateral Partner role leading its Dispute Resolution Department. This Partner-track position is designed for an entrepreneurial Construction Litigation Attorney with a portable book of business and a proven ability to independently manage high-value disputes. Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the Dispute Resolution Department and all litigation attorneys
- Handle complex commercial litigation, construction litigation, and construction defect (defense) matters from filing through trial
- Serve as first-chair in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings
- Navigate litigation in the Law and Chancery Divisions of the Cook County Circuit Court
- Represent clients in AAA and JAMS arbitration forums
- Independently manage sophisticated client relationships
- Oversee litigation hold procedures and electronic discovery protocols
- Draft complaints, dispositive motions, briefs, and trial materials with minimal oversight
- Develop and standardize internal litigation processes
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and staff
- Drive business development initiatives and expand a portable book of repeatable client business
- Implement billing strategies that minimize write-offs and maximize compensation
- Minimum 10+ years of active litigation practice
- Demonstrated experience in commercial litigation, construction litigation, and construction defect defense
- Admission to the Illinois Bar in good standing
- Proven leadership and mentorship experience managing litigation teams
- Portable book of business of $100,000+ in repeatable annual revenue
- Strong trial advocacy, deposition, and brief-writing experience
- Deep knowledge of Illinois mechanics lien law and professional ethics rules
- Experience handling high-risk, high-value disputes independently
- Proficiency in electronic discovery tools and legal technology
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Strong administrative and operational support
