Litigation Legal Assistant
LHH is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive support to attorneys at a Chicago law firm. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced legal environment.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience supporting attorneys in a law firm setting.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Zoom, Adobe, Dropbox, and legal applications such as Perfect Law and M365.
- E‑filing experience in Federal and State courts, including Courts of Appeals and Cook County.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize multiple cases and deadlines.
- Team‑oriented with a professional, positive demeanor.
- Solid understanding of legal terminology; medical terminology a plus.
- Skilled in reviewing and analyzing legal documents for accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Proofread legal documents and correspondence from draft to final form.
- Reformat and finalize pleadings and other legal filings.
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling court deadlines and client meetings.
- Coordinate preparation, filing, and service of pleadings and briefs.
- Manage service of process, file documents with the court, and coordinate with local counsel.
- Maintain and organize electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Prioritize and manage multiple cases and projects to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Assist with trail prep and trial support as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $60,000 – $85,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
